Google has just gone live with a new addition to their Live Traffic service. You can access it on maps.google.com, type in your location and then click on the Traffic button. New highways added to the service in the Los Angeles area include:

Hwy 1 (Capistrano Beach to Malibu)
Hwy 2/Santa Monica Blvd (Santa Monica to Hollywood)
Hwy 2/N Alvarado St
Hwy 19/Rosemead Blvd/Lakewood Blvd (Pasadena to Long Beach)
Hwy 27/Topanga Canyon Blvd (Castellammare to Chatsworth)
Hwy 42/Manchester Ave (Playa del Rey to Downey)
Hwy 72/Whittier Blvd (Boyle Heights to La Habra)
Hwy 91/W Artesia Blvd (110 to Hermosa Beach)
N Mission Rd (downtown LA)

And many more.. I am not familiar enough with the area but you should at least find a couple of new roads covered near you. Disclaimer: I am NOT affiliated with Google in any way, nor am I being paid by them. I'm just delighted to see an expansion of a great service.

There's another feature google maps has that I'd bet a lot of people don't know about. There is a feature that shows traffic speeds predicted based on past traffic data.

Click on Traffic
Click on Live Traffic to toggle to "Traffic at Time and Day"
Select Day and Time

it's nice to see that non-freeway thoroughfares are beginning to show up on these traffic websites. I know LADOT has a link for street traffic, but it is very difficult to use. hopefully someday there will be online traffic info for all of the major boulevards in LA. this would be extremely helpful to someone like me who rarely uses freeways, but often commutes on major streets like santa monica blvd, olympic, pico, and venice among others.
