Lot of CD posters here on the losing side of the mayoral elections. Im curious as to how many of you are actual Angelenos and not transplanted mid westerns or easterners, etc.

Yep... looks like Villar won with 55%. Next highest vote getter was Moore with 26%. I guess CD isn't a good representation of LA as a whole judging from our CD mayoral poll...

I'd be suprised if all the people who voted for Moore on the poll even lived in LA.

thats exactly what i was thinking.

AV was the favorite. no way would silly moore win. would never happen.
people here on CD just dont like AV, but moore is not a reasonable/responsible alternative.

Wow, the percentages LASam provided and the results of CD's poll are practically flipped almost exactly.

Talked to my mom on the phone after the election. She voted for Tony even though she had some misgivings about his lack of time spent doing his job, mainly because of putting more cops on the street, the decrease in crime rates since 2005 (even the recent increase in violent crime in L.A. has merely been back to 2007 levels), and that he's a good looking, charismatic man - I guess the "celebrity" factor does appeal to some people, particularly women. She referred to Moore as a "weirdo" and hadn't even heard of the other candidates.

Moore did much better than 4 yrs ago but LA voted for Obama by 78% so I guess Republican strength is around 22%-26%. The GOP is barely able to muster 30% in the state legislature & lost record numbers to Democrats & or independent.

Today the news programs are pointing out a recent poll showing only 28% favorable rate for Republicans compared to 49% for Democratic party nationwide

Well, in my brief time on CD my appraisal would be that there are a bunch of immature non-thinkers who are too shallow to really read other's post unless they agree with each other. They also like to repeat the same questions over and over disregarding any answers a commenter posts.

It is actually amazing that Moore got 26% of the vote when only 15% of the registered voters showed up. Add his percentages in with the "other" and 45% voted against Tony V. And of ALL the registered voters 8% actually voted for him. His main issue Measure B, the solar initiative is failing, and his buddy Weiss is being forced into a runoff. Villaraigosa's goal was 60%, which would give him a good springboard into running for governor next year. He might have a win, but it's not a great vote of confidence.

Further, it is ridiculous to think that most people who posted here were from the East or Midwest. Who the hell would care about an election that most people in L.A. didn't care about. But maybe if you post it a couple more times it will be true. Doh!

Your mom has her information a little mixed up. Crime in L.A. has been down since 2002, when Mayor Hahn appointed Bratton.

If charismatic, your mom meant he is a sleazy womanizer, then yah....she is spot on.
