Santa Clarita to Lancaster will seem like a 3AM walk to the potty compared to Anaheim to Castaic.

Worst:

Van Nuys to Downtown L.A.
20 miles
45 minutes to 1 hour (depending on traffic, weather, etc.)
2 1/2 years
(Coming home at 5:30 p.m. was worse; if it rained, my commute could easily take two hours.)

Best:

Sherman Oaks to Woodland Hills
12 miles
20 minutes
9 years

There have been shorter commutes, like Van Nuys to Arleta, but because I was taking surface streets, and my hours were later, I ran into more traffic and was more frustrated - so it's not always about time or distance.

wow reading this thread is a bit of an eye opener for me... i always hear you LA'ers complaining about traffic and commute times but from what you guys are saying here it doesn't sound like you got it that bad... i mean your so called "worst commutes" are better than most of our best commutes... i mean 70 miles 1.75 hours, 20 miles 1 hour, 72 miles 90 minutes... lol try driving in philly for a while, you guys will wanna rip your hair out, you'll only wish you were back in LA

Approx 40 mins each way (taking a mixture of freeways and sidestreets)
I only did this for about 3 summers, but my dad's been doing this commute...for 10+ years

Best:
Oxnard to Ventura
6.3 miles
15 minutes from the time I lock up my home till I park the car.
Just over 11 years

Worse:
Ventura, Ca to Surprise, AZ
440 miles
4 hours (Time to drive from work to the airport, get my plane ready and fly to Glendale, AZ airport and drive to home in Surprise, AZ.)
Only occasional trip when family is in Surprise.

To tell you the truth I love to fly so I wouldn't say it was that bad. Also only did this on the weekends.
