My son is thinking about attending the Make Up Design school in Burbank. We plan to go down and visit the school and check out the surrounding area but I'm wondering if anyone here knows anything about this school. Also, he won't have a car - is it easy to get around in that area? Is is a safe place? Is it "friendly" to young people who migh appear "different" (that's all I am going to say about that so please don't ask me to clarify).

Thanks in advance for any helpful answers - sarcastic replies are neither wanted nor appreciated.

The MUD school is located in downtown Burbank. I live a few blocks from here, and I walk downtown a lot. It is extremely safe, and well-lit. I have never been 'in' the school, but it looks very small from the outside. There is a bus system in Burbank, so he won't need a car. The closest grocery store is maybe 1/2 to 3/4 mile away. There are some apts located right downtown, but they are pricey. But within walking distance there are nice apts, so finding an apt should be easy for him. As far as 'appearing different' It's LA, so no one will really notice if he is different. Burbank has a lot of diversity and a lot of different types of people. Good Luck!

Like Blondie mentioned, many people in L.A appear different, but it depends in what way. You do not want to say more, that is enough as people need to respect your views. As for your comment about sarcastic remarks, I think that is a little uncalled for on your part. This is a open forum. People can say what they want and will when remarks like that are made.

Good luck to your son.

Blondie, I just noticed this thread is over 6 months old, I wonder why it was dug up again? I wouldn't have answered if I had noticed that earlier.
