How hard is it to find work in LA? I have experience as a Billing Clerk doing mainly data entry, retail, and PBX Operator. I know rents are high there but I will be have a room mate.

In my part of Florida the job market is almost nonexistent. I was told that one job for a janitor had over 7000 applicants for the job. I want to move and get a fresh start.

I lived in LA before and tried for an acting career due to circumstances I moved to Florida and now want to come back. I am an older actress so I know it will be an uphill climb. I have no interest in stardom and just want to be a working actress. I already know I will have to have a job or jobs to pay for things so I have no illusions that I will arrive and get discovered.

The "official" unemployment rate in LA County is 10.5% (as of February) well above the national number (8.1%). The "official" rate is somewhat misleading. Doesn't count people who want to work but stopped looking. Also, does not include independent contractors (and there are many of those is the LA area).

Don't mean to discourage you but you might as well realize it's no walk in the park here either. Good luck to you.
