I think any population loss now is due to the poor economy.

Why did white flight happen in the first place? I think anyone fleeing because the area has become more diverse is probably already gone.

What I'd like to know is if the city's economy is bad, why is the population increasing. In the 2000 Census, it was around 3.6 million, then in 2006 it was 3.8 million, now it's 4 million.

A lot of people are coming to Houston and Dallas for better opps. Low cost of living, 30% AA population that is apart of the workforce of both of these cities. I know Ive noticed it because a lot of folks who moved to LA is the 70's are coming back to Texas and Atlanta.

The ones who moved in the 50s/60s (such as my grandparents) are retiring to greener pastures in their rural, native South, especially Louisiana & Texas (9/10 LA Blacks are from these places, and are often of Creole backgrounds). Those places or they cash out of 'da hood and get a beach house on the Gulf Coast or in Miami/Florida somewhere.

Those in their 30s and 40s are going to the suburbs (Antelope Valley, Inland Empire, High Desert), Las Vegas and Arizona. Many of the younger ones go Atlanta or big-city Texas, too.

Blacks are discriminated against in the private sector work force of l.a. They are largely not bilingual so yes they are leaving l.a. If l.a. Is a microcrosm for the future face of america blacks are on the verge of extinction.

Nope, most of the Central Americans are mestizos and that's very obvious, and non-Hispanic whites aren't all Anglos either.

While this is true, Whites and Latinos(regardless of race) are treated as one group in many employment and housing statistics. It may be because the majority of Latinos in America are white, and an even greater majority identify as white (spaniard) in their respective countries.

The ideology of the "One-Drop rule" in America was completely reverse in Latin America, one-drop of Spaniard and you were considered one. It was a rather successful way of establishing support for continued colonization. The name of this concept fleets me, it's in Spanish of course.

If you think about it, White Hispanic families essential become just White, after 3 or 4 generations in America. The children no longer speak Spanish, many stop being Catholics, etc..etc..
White Hispanics also have the highest marry-out rate of any demographic.

No, the vast majority of Latinos in the United States are closer to Native American than white. Have you ever see the Hispanics in LA. You'd mistake very few for being of European descent. Quite a few look mixed, sure, and even more look just Native American. If any of those people are identifying as "white" in America they are incorrect... much like Armenians and Persians.

In the actual Latin American countries there is more diversity... some countries like Argentina, Uruguay, Chile are very heavily European and white, while central America and Mexico are heavily mestizo/native, and Colombia and Venezuela are very mixed.

No. The Majority of Hispanics in America are White or Mestizo/ with a majority of White admixture. Yes they don't look the exact same as traditional White americans, but they are mostly white.

I feel as if in America we are so easy to exclude mixed people from the White race but will place them in their minority racial category even if they only look slightly ethnic.

This doesn't take into account that the fact that most for the immigrants from Mexico are more likely to be from the Northern states which are much Whiter than Mexico's Southern states.

Also, this just represents Mexico, as you said there is much more diversity in other Parts of Latin America,hence why most of Miami is White Hispanic.

LA County is now about 8% black. That ain't nothing. The U.S. average is like 13%. Other big metros like Atlanta is at 30% black, Washington DC 25% black, Detroit 22% black.
