Hello,

I am a 27 year old business owner with a 6 year old daughter. Recently my financial circumstances have improved drastically . I have always desiredto live in L.A. and can finally afford to do so. I want to purchase a home in a nice neigborhood with good families and schools. Any suggestions???? I have an extremely large down payment and need at least 3 Bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Pool would be nice too!

People who are from L.A. and very familiar with the areas would be helpful.

House or condo? What's your budget? "Extremely large down payment" doesn't tell us if you're looking for a $500k home or a $5M home. Do you need close access to anything in particular like airports, downtown offices, etc?

Def. a single family home. I would like to be near downtown LA. Down payment is 100,000 and budget is in the 800s with $900k being the absolute max!!!

a 100k down payment would be 20% of a 500k house(thus qualifying for a traditional mortgage). with everything else you want and being close to downtown long beach, you're really stretching.

anyways, at your price and well below, if you dont mind public transport(rail), id look at long beach(bixby knolls is the closest suburban area of lb to the rail). rail goes right into downtown

For that kind of money (at this time)you could get a house in Malibu and only a short drive to the madness they call LA. The schools are also very good!

Wow, you mean for $800k you can get 3 bedrooms 2 plus baths and a pool in Malibu? sounds too good to be true, I wonder the condition of the place..I also wonder if the OP knows how much the upkeep on a house like this will be? sounds like she has plenty of bucks to spend though..

Charles, it sounds like she may be a single mom. I wonder though, about her being a small business owner, what kind of business? Apparently she can work from home it sounds like..
