This is extremely unscientific and just an opinion, but I really do feel like more interesting, innovative, different ideas come out of California than other places, including New York. Pinkberry is a (bad) example. Maybe it's because people are less concerned with making the maximum amount of money possible in the shortest time possible, but being happy building their idea to fruition. But I guess innovation is only one type of entrepreneurship. If you're talking about something like real estate development, most big cities have bureaucratic hurdles and taxes (NY has to take the cake here though).

So why not give some examples? Pinkberry is a bad example, wanna know why? Pink Berry is the sort of business that would only do well on the west coast and perhaps a few east coast cities.

This is not to mention business wise Pink berry sucks. There are some 3-4 competitors to it now. Pink berry won't exist in a few years. Selling overpriced yogurt with fruit toppings will only last so long until someone eats your lunch.
