Default Bars in Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena

I'm around 29 and have recently begun visiting a few bars in Old Town Pasadena. Up until Tuesday I never would've stepped into a bar (since I didn't drink) but nice guys never get a break and the sad truth is the chick I should've (in another life) started dating is infact married. It was a good time but just got me down, knowing how I'm always getting attached to these married chicks just by sheer randomness. Anyway it really is bad since we work together and I'm trying to avoid her now. She had been friendly so probably doesn't notice much, married chicks hopefully are busy and don't think like that anymore?!

She wanted to go out for my birthday, in honesty I'd rather go out alone since being around her is DEPRESSING since it reminds me of a girl years ago, and now this one :ugh: So my real points are:

1. Does anyone who's single and a guy actually meet chicks at a bar if they themselves are alone? Don't chicks just go with their boyfriends, etc.

2. What dirnks are good for first timers to try, I've had Samuel Adams (great stuff), Guinness, Sierra Nevada, Hefeweizen (I liked this) and another I forgot what it's name was.

3. Moderator cut: What bars can you recommend?

Hell I had a guy hit on me and try offering me drugs, that was nerve wrecking since I'm straight. It made me laugh since it would've been more depressing had I not been on my 5th beer.

If you want to avoid that in the future avoid bars with rainbow stickers on the windows.

Hefeweizen is a type of beer, not a brand.

Which made you depressed? That it was a guy or that he offered you drugs?

Sounds like you should take whatever compliments you can get at this point - even if they're from a guy.

if you are in old town. check out villa sorrisos (the crowd aint what it used to be) but they have good drinks. neo meze is a nice loungey spot. im not sure. bars change quite often in Pasadena. theres no mooses. no barcelona. no joya. but all those places still have some incarnation of a bar/lounge. there is lots to do in pas. you can also check out bodega wine bar. its mostly wine. no hard liqour. but it has a nicer crowd than some of the other spots. its in the paseo.

for a more kick back feel. check out barneys. or 35ers. 35ers is more laid back. pitchers of beer. free popcorn. and some of patrons (male and female) are of the loose variety. it depends on what you are looking for.

the best advice is to be confident. you can go to a bar alone. but if you are stuck in a corner then thats what you are giving off. but if you are confident and start a conversation with a stranger, then the females will notice.

good luck.

oh and def. YELP
