"Hate"? I have lived in California all my life & think your comment that Northern Californians hate Southern Californians is a bit much My uncle who lives in Orland [remote Sacramento valley town] "hates" the traffic of LA [but who doesn't?] & tells me I should move back to "God's country" [no thanks].
If you can not stand living in the Bay Area don't try to stir-up silly territorial fights that don't exist between northern & southern California. Frankly, the Bay Area is considered one of the most popular places to live but, of-course, everyone has their own opinion. But exaggerating about some huge resentment against Los Angeles by Bay Area people isn't accurate.

This is just ridiculous.
I don't know why you felt the need to post that. I lived in the Bay Area and it is a great place for the most part. It's not for everyone, just like Southern California is not for everyone. Different strokes for different folks. Obviously you don't like the Bay Area, but I'm sure you could have said that in a way that is not so offensive to others.
There are jerks everywhere you like to form stereotypical, generalized opinions based on one, or even a handful, of experiences. I have never known anyone in the Bay Area, and I lived there for the fist 18 years of my life and visit almost monthly, to say anything hateful about Southern California. I did, however, experience a few people here who felt the need to belittle the Bay Area and where I came from, in much the same way that you're doing. I didn't let those few bad apples ruin things for me. As someone said previously, where you live is what you make of it. I've lived up North and now I live down South...they are both different but both great places to live. Negative attitudes like yours are unnecessary.

It's impossible to generalize the mindset of 25 million people.

Yes. No. Sometimes. Some are. Some aren't.

You cannot judge all Bay Area residents based on one poster or a few experiences. You have obviously had negative experiences up North in regards to their view of Southern California. I have not. Is that being stuck-up? I don't think so. That kind of arrogant attitude you refer to can be found everywhere, as I tried to point out. You can either let it bother you or you can let it roll off your shoulders.
The Bay Area is a really big place and San Francisco is only one tiny part. Having lived there for most of my life I can say that most Bay Area residents are not the way you are making them out to be. And, by the way, you are coming off somewhat hypocritical since you are doing the exact same thing you are accusing Bay Area residents of doing.
That's all I was trying to say, and I don't think I was being rude or arroagant at all. You obviously have your issues with the area but again, I don't think your negativity is necessary, warranted, or productive in any way, shape, or form.

Anyways, I am a Bay native and I love LA. All my friends from the Bay have love for SoCal, and all my friends in SoCal have love for the Bay. It is mutual. We may just play around now and then about a little rivalry, but really, we are just fooling around.

Excellent post I am so lucky to have family in the Bay Area & never miss an opportunity to visit San Francisco, California's most charming city. And also get visits from family\ friends to my home in LA to enjoy the beach or other fun things to do.

Okay, believe whatever you want to believe. I went to UC Berkeley, and had many friends who hailed from SoCal. Many of my own friends and relatives went to school down in SoCal. I loved visiting them down there. I did a 6 month stint down in SoCal to be with my girlfriend who attended UC Riverside, and loved every minute of it. She loved it down there, pretty much turned into a SoCal girl.
Whatever dude, you really have some issues.

I am from San Fran / grew up there and also lived in Topanga Canyon area for 10 years. Everywhere you go is different. geography people, you adjust and enjoy. Make the most of the sun and surf down there--- you will have a blast.

You are very right! I grew up in San Jose and I been comin out here for a year and a half and moved here 5 months ago. What I like about down here is that no one judges you. You can be who you want here and in the Bay its different. I LOVE the Bay though more for different reasons. Up there people are hotter!! LOL! NO JOKE! everyone out here is caught up in the "HOLLYWOOD" lifestyle that you hardly get noticed. So there's good and bad of both places and I fell in love with L.A.! you either love it, or you hate it! Peace out
