Default Best place to stay with children?

We would like to vacation to Los Angeles in November for my husband's 40th B-day. Where can we stay that is within walking distance to some of the attractions and in a safe neighborhood? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Maybe look into Universal City area or Santa Monica near the Promenade.

Agree. Depends if you want more of a "Hollywood" type location or a "LA Palm Trees and Beach" type location for the hotel. Universal City has a Sheraton and Hilton Hotel across from Universal Studios and is close to the Red Line subway for getting to Hollywood.
