These are your typical All American Middle Class, good schools, blah blah blah cities; escapism at it's best.

They are all great areas. Arcadia would be the priciest as it is the closest to Los Angeles, and offers great schools. If you are looking for diversity, culturally, you will not find much in any of these towns, but la Verne would probably offer the most.

All have low crime rates, good schools and are typical middle class. I would call them all pretty conservative as well, If this is what you are looking for, it you do want more diversity or a more liberal atmosphere then you may want to look elsewhere.

Hubby and I have lived in Glendora and Arcadia. Our kids went to school in both districts and hubby graduated from Citrus many years ago. It was a high school, Jr college combo at the time..

Arcadia has diversity, or at least doesn't have one main majority ethnic group - the 2000 census showed the city was 45% Chinese, 45% white, and 10% hispanic. (don't know about the others)

Well I guess that would be considered diversified compared to say, Glendora. It was even becoming very heavily Asian when we lived there a zillion and a half years ago...

Parts if Glendora and I am sure San Dimas will have a high % of Hispanics..Of course judging anyplace today by the census almost a decade ago isn't very acturate. The town we live in showed just over 16,000 in 2000. We are now approaching 26,000.

Arcadia has the famous Santa Anita horse racing track that is fun to hang-out at. The LA county arboretum is across the street & beautiful any time of the year [it is where scenes of Fantasy Island were filmed - "da plane, da plane" ]. Interestingly parts of Arcadia have wild peacocks that escaped years ago from Rancho Santa Anita [some people hate them because of the poop & the loud scream peacocks make at 5AM! There also are colonies of parrots in the San Gabriel valley - beautiful birds that also screech as loud as peacocks.

I worked at a hospital in Glendora & go to Raging Waters in San Dimas. Nice area w/ steep hillsides [and the occasional mountain lion or black bear running thru neighborhoods]. La Verne is close to Fairplex & very uneventful [quiet & safe - actually all 4 cities are the same in that category].

The San Gabriel valley has very large Asian & Latino populations, solidly Democrat but there still is a GOP congressman from San Dimas [the only Republican in LA county].

We could hear the races from our home in Arcadia..We always took out of town company to the Arboretum...yep, that is where they shot the opening scene of Fantasy Island. Oh, those Peacocks, they do love to spend time of the roofs of homes in the community and yes, they became a regular alarm clock, especially in the spring..

As for the valley being solidly democratic, boy has that changed in the last few years.. Are you sure it is primarily registered that way or just went that way this last election?

Yes, the graphs show the San Gabriel valley as nearly all blue except some red around San Dimas. Both Latinos & Asians vote primarily as Democrats. LA county follows the trends of Los Angeles\ city w/ ever shrinking Republicans [under 25%].
