Default apartment hunt - all west facing windows

Hi,

I'm considering putting down a deposit on a fabulous place. However, my concern is that all the windows in the apartment face west and I wonder how hot it will get during the summer or warm, sunny months (which is nearly all the time in LA). The bedroom windows are very large, nearly floor to ceiling and the living area has a sliding glass balcony door. The entry faces the eastern direction but opens to an enclosed hallway, so no cross breeze. It's located about 3-5 miles to the beach so I would get a decent breeze as opposed to if I lived in the Hollywood area or further inland. Any insight or advice?

TIA

You'll get a breeze but it'll get pretty warm in the afternoon.

exactly what Escape said, you should get a little ocean breeze, much more than in Hollywood, but you will also get late afternoon, early evening heat. The best part, the nights will be plenty cool thus if it were me and I really liked the apartment I would go for it.

I llved in a triplex in Redondo Beach and my unit had east-west windows and we had excellent ventilation and cooling, but my neighbor had north-south windows and was stifling, no breezes to speak of. I'd take the western facing windows in a heartbeat although no east windows means no cross ventilation. North-south only is the real problem there.
