Default Trying TO move to LA HELP

Me and my husband have a teenager and a youger kid and are wanting to move into the la are because of my husbands job. We want an area with very good schools, not too expensive with houses of $500,000-600,000 dollars. We dont even know where to begin can you please help.

Well, all right, it's not in LA. But it does have "LA" in the middle of the name.

Okay, joking aside...You may ironically have to settle farther from rather than closer to LA. This is a paradox I'm seeing living here. You can either live very close/very centrally to LA proper and pay $800 (forget that mindly-schmindley $600) at a bare minimum for less house than it takes you to clean in an hour, OR you could go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out east and see prices come down a hair again. I live in Glendora, an extraordinarily safe community, and saw three homes go up in my neighborhood last year ranging from $600-675K, but fair warning, my DH commutes an hour and fifteen to get to Beverly Hills.

Expand on the husbands job and why in LA.

More info by you is needed to really give a decent thought.

good area, 500k, good schools? Well LAUSD sucks.
Good area for 500k might get you an old home thats 1000-1200sq ft.

good schools is a plus also and my husband wont mind driving 30 miles for his job so we dont have to live within the city limits.
