Default Moving to LA

Hi,

Need some help. I am moving to LA next year to go to Makeup/Special Effects school and plan on staying there. I won't have a ton of money, can anyone recommend a good (safe) area to get an apartment. I also have pets. I know it won't be cheap, but I am looking for the most reasonable safe area to live. My school will be within a couple of miles from the Kodak Theater, so I am looking to stay close. I am a single female as well...

Thanks,

Callilily1

Here's a good tool to map Craigslist rentals:

What kind of pets? A couple of hamsters, or three 150 pound dogs?
