Hi, I'm moving from NYC to LA for a summer internship, and I'm having trouble finding housing in the Westwood Village area.

You would think that finding places to live in a region dominated by UCLA dorms would be easy, but the problem is that my internship starts end of may, whereas UCLA is in session till June 20th or so.

I want to live in the westwood village area because thats where my office is and being from the east coast I don't have a car. So I need to be rather close to work and pref near the bus/metro lines.

Does anyone have advice? I've tried some websites, without a great deal of luck, if someones looking to sublet for the summer, that would be awesome too. I'm open to not just having my own place but also a subletted room or something.

I was also wondering how life in LA is like without a car, having to rely on public transportation and the like. I know its a car oriented city but I'd appreciate anyones thoughts on the matter.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I can't believe how housing around UCLA is more expensive than Manhatten!

UCLA has an off-campus housing site with listings that are viewable by the public.

I don't think he is a UCLA student. He is moving there to be near an office, which I am assuming is in a office tower in the Westwood area. I don't think he is eligible for UCLA sponsored housing if he isn't a student.

Not to mention that the original post was made in March of 2007, so hopefully he's found something by now!
