Let's make it Easter. I'm pretty sure I'll be living elsewhere by then!

I'm not worried about getting injured in an earthquake. That's extremely unlikely particularly for someone living in a single story wood frame structure.

What worries me is the potential for damage to real property, up to and including total loss of structure and contents. Add to that the almost certain slowing (or cessation) of the real estate market (on top of the already slow market). An earthquake could be a real calamity for property owners, even if they aren't in the area of major damage.

I've been here over forty years. You get used the shaking. In fact, I slept through Sylmar, Whittier, AND Northridge.

Just keep an earthquake kit in your home and another in your car, including water.

Whoops on that prediction... unless we have "the big one" in the next 21 hours, LOL.

I know this thread is ancient, and I live in San Francisco - but nope, I'm not too worried about quakes. I was 13 when the Loma Prieta quake hit, and just about 30-40 miles from the epicenter at the time... it was scary but we survived, as our town is structurally prepared for these incidents. Yeah, I know a few of our bridges & roads weren't quite ready, but we've been working on that ever since.

The big earthquake hits in the next 4 yrs and wipes out life as we know it in all of So Cal, including S.D. Enjoy it while you can, but prepare for great hardships after that. Those lucky enough to sell their homes before that will be able to reestablish themselves elsewhere. Those individual home owners that are still here when it hits, will pretty much be screwed. Insurance for that calamity will not exist, so most people will lose everything. You think the economy is bad now, just wait. The only ones who won't suffer are those who have a home completely paid for somewhere else.
