Woodland Hills is worlds better than Canoga Park, and it isnt too much more expensive.

Why does the commenter in the e-mail thinks it will be a head-scratcher for "liberals"? It's easy - embarrass and vilify the gang. When the members commit crimes, the members get thrown into the pen.

Wikpedia doesn't even say much about crime in that area.

I'm another Londoner moving to LA (currently in San Diego) but recently learned how much I don't like wasting time sitting in traffic. I've been through a lot of crap and I just want a bit of simple life for like 6 months to a year. I was thinking of living some where a bit out of Hollywood that is affordable and Canoga Park has a lot of beautiful affordable apartments on craigslist. I may be offered a job in Calabasas and thought i'd live in Canoga Park and only deal with Hollywood on the weekends.

I'm curious of people's thoughts?

My friend lives in Tarzana which is not far from Canoga Park, but a nicer neighborhood. She shares a three bedroom house with two other people and is pretty happy about it. The place is in a nice neighborhood south of Ventura Bl. and her share of the rent is around $700 a month.

Cool. I'm actually looking to get a 1 bedroom apartment no more then $1000 and i'm seeing them all in Canoga Park. Craigslist keeps on showing really nice ones. Just find it hard to believe that's all in the "ghetto" and the ads are not scams either.

Perhaps these would help:

From the CRA/LA website:
Reseda/Canoga Park

The Canoga Park Neigborhood Council's web site:
HOME

From the Daily News:
Lanark Park taken back from gangs

From the LA Times:
LAPD opens new station in Canoga Park - Los Angeles Times

The area may turn out to be a very desirable neighborhood in the next 5 years.

I just did a search on Tarzana and it seems nice. Found some decent apartments. Thanks

that's another thing. people get scared easily out here. they'll see a neighbourhood that's more diverse and think it's ghetto or something.
