I'm moving in June/July to Palmdale (Pearland to be exact). I'm from the San Fernando Valley (Panorama City) and have lived here the majority of my life. I'm young, 20. I've read mostly negative things about the area, i've never been there though.

Is the Area around 47th and Pearblossom Hwy good or bad?

I had a few questions, Palmdale has a very low percentage of Asians, which is the opposite of where i currently reside. Are there any Boba or Asian-type oriented places to shop or eat in the area, or city in general? What area of Palmdale has large concentrations of Asians? Also, is Pearland in East Palmdale?

Default Moving to hell for a job at Northrup

From what I have read about Palmdale, it would be a big change from Fremont, Ca. The weather looks like a nightmare.
The population is also a nightmare.
41% white
37% mexican
15% black
I can buy 4 houses for the price of 1 here.
I looked up the crime rate, and it didn't look that bad considering.
Where do all the aerospace workers live?

You would have to be "cuckoo". Sorry could not resist. At 47th, I would say .01% asian. It is a hole in every way. I don't even get gas on that side of town. Weather is blowing and freezing or blowing and a furnace. The crime rate is bogus, most of it does not even get reported. Daily lockdowns in schools, quadruple murders, bodies dumped in desert. Hopeless.

Why on Earth would someone move from the SFV to the desert sight unseen? Seriously, I don't get it.

most of the aerospace workers live in quartz hills, west lancaster.some commute to valencia much nicer.way less crime there.
my lil bro works at northrop he lives in palmdale.
it just depends...stay away from the east of any town up here and youll be ok.
im not saying they are bad.but you seem to see a little more inner city people.(la)more cops on the west side and nicer homes.i been up here 10 yrs now.when i first moved up here it was way calmer and not as bad.now you see more people more crime etc...

the area of 47th and 138 is pretty good.but now when you go down toward town on 47th now thats pretty bad.troubles everywhere you find it.if you dont bother no one you be ok.just check out the neighborhoods in the day and night and get an insight.id suggest west of the 14 fwy thats much nicer

I have lived in Palmdale for a year and we are finally moving away, to Ventura area. We lived in one of the nicest places in the area. The west side of Palmdale, in a housing area called Anaverde. It is pretty quiet on our street, a lot of vacant houses because everyone bought here at the peak, but it's still kept up and I feel safe. I only stay on the west side of town, unless my husband is with us, then we might go to other side for something. I just never felt like Palmdale was my home, never made it my home, and glad to be moving on. There is a place by the Wal-mart on 10th street west called I luv Sushi, has pretty good food. THat's probably as Asian as you get around Palmdale, besides Panda Express someone mentioned earlier. Get used to a lot of Ghetto people around here too. We were eating at a place the other day and a family all walks in all in their pajamas and slippers, it was about 130 pm. I shop at Trader Joes weekly, and there is the same lady always coming right up to me at my car asking for money. Wal-mart has the same peddlers that hang out by the street with their signs asking for money. My husband says they have an apartment somewhere in town and have been thrown out of the store several times for stealing alcohol. They are making it their job to beg for money and they hang out right at empty building by Wal-mart. People give them money all the time when I drive by that street.
