Driving to/from Corona to LAX
Needs some opinions on a daily commute from Corona to LAX. Has anyone done this? If so, how long is the commute on an average day starting at 5am and a return at 4:30pm back to Corona? Is this complete madness for even considering??!! I'm looking into buying a home in Corona due to pricing and will sacrifice a reasonable commute, but I'll draw the line if it's too much of a drive. Any thoughts...

My opinion is that you could not pay me enough to make that commute daily. Why put yourself through that. How much $ value do you place on your sanity?

ZenMaster2008, thanks for the response. What would you say the commute time would be?

Leaving at 5 won't be too bad, maybe a little over an hour, but coming home will be murder.

Charles, how murderous in your estimation are we talking about? 2 hours plus for the trip back?

Frankly it could take you up to two hours ONE way. You'd be going west with traffic, not against. Personally, I can't even imagine doing this type of commute more than once a month.

4 hours of total commute daily? I'm a patient person, but that may be extreme.

The only semi-sane way to do this would be to commute to the Green Line in Norwalk and take the Green Line to LA.
The ultimate way to do it would be a 2 car system and take the 91 Metrolink Line from Corona to Norwalk and drive from that station to the Green Line station a few miles away(there could be a shuttle I'm unaware of though). The Green Line would dump you close to LAX and they have shuttles to take you to LAX. Do the same on the way back. Metrolink passes are typically valid on all Metro trains and busses as well(at least according to the documentation, I've never tried it), so you only need to pay for the metrolink pass.
A former neighbor of mine does a similar thing for his practice. He lives in San Diego, but bought a cheap beater car to leave at the train station up here so he can commute by train most the way and hop in the beater car to get to work from the station. Leaves it there the rest of the time.
