Good Live Music Spot in LA????
Not exactly sure how to put this.
I am looking for a new place to hear good live music anywhere from Santa Monica to Pasadena.....preferably an intimate spot with a good house band (jazz, fusion, blues, brazilian, latin, R&B, etc).
Preferably a weekend spot....good cocktails....and not the big "concert" venues or traditional jazz spots (like Catalina Bar & Grill).
Ok, enough limitations, just shoot me any suggestions.......thanks!

For what you're looking for? Taix in Echo Park. No house bands, but a wide variety of styles, and all you have to do is buy drinks or food. The cocktails are to die for.

There's so many places for good music. Check the LA Weekly.

Happ is right. Just pick up an LA Weekly for all your live music needs.
Jax in Glendale on Brand has always been one of my favorites but its small and gets really crowded.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I am fully aware of the LA Weekly. Guess, I am looking for direct commentary/suggestions from the people. Thanks all the same.

I should think that everyone's musical taste is so different that we can't always be helpful. If you want a good 80s cover band, for example, I can give you that info! I've also been to Cozy's, a blues club here in the Valley, but it doesn't sound like you want to venture over the hill.

Again, forgot all about Cozy's. Haven't been in a long time. About time I venture back there. Great suggestion.

Cozys - one of my favorite local hangouts. I usually always try to go when Eric Sardines or BB Chung King are playing there. I miss Smokin' Johnnys though.
