Feasibility of a Lancaster to LAX daily commute.
Does anyone have inputs on the feasibility and travel time for a Monday -Friday car commute to/from Lancaster to LAX. My work hours at LAX will most likely be 7am to 4pm. Need to know if leaving at 5am will get me there on time. I already know the 4pm return will be long, but does anyone have an idea on approximately how long? If you have alternate travel methods please chime in with your thoughts as well.

Disaster pretty much. I'd make a plan to move closer asap.
I know a lady that works near LAX and lives in Pasadena. She rents a boat in Marina Del Rey three days a week and stays there during the week.

I think there is a train that goes into the San Fernando Valley. Theoretically, a person could train to a junker car and drive in the rest of the way.
Forget this commute. No way.
It would be healthier for you to live in Inglewood or Compton or South Central LA than to make that commute.

Lancaster is roughly 75 miles away from LAX! You are looking at over an hour on even your 5AM commute. The return will easily be over 2 hours, probably close to 3 often!
I honestly don't know why you would go out of your way to own a home in a far away, hot, and fairly high crime area like Lancaster (it does have gangs, high property crime, graffiti, many people out of jail). Sure you might get a new home, but what is the point when all you do is sleep in it from 8PM to 4AM??? I would rather live closer to work in a condo that I can actually spend some time in rather than live in my car and office 75% of my life.
You need to look closer to work, seriously. If that means buying a condo, then consider it because you might get the "pride" of single family home ownership, but you will never enjoy it and be miserable as you spend only a few hours in it, always sleeping after your long commute.

Horrible commute. Check out the Metrolink, but do NOT make that drive every day.

Commute by Metrolink is 2 hours from Lancaster to Union Station. Then you have to add the time to get to LAX from Union Station and you are looking at 2 hours 45 minutes minimum with Metrolink.

You'd probably be better off living in Phoenix and commuting on Southwest Airline. I think it's about 45-60 minutes from PHX to LAX. Houses have gotten cheap in Phoenix and the weather's hot and dry too.

Given the horrendous traffic in Socal, that's actually not a bad idea.
