Ummm,

I LIVE here and have for all my life and it is true.

SA is CROWDED and the traffic is just a nightmare.

How many traffic lights does California have on the FREEWAYS?

Well, on Loop 1604 and Highway 281, two MAJOR freeways in SA, there are still large portions of them that are not free flowing and rely on traffic lights!!! What a joke.

And that is not getting fixed anytime soon because the funding is bone dry!!!

As for the weather, it typically is a lot better but it rained so much in March that is set a new record.

sakssa is on a distinguished road
San Antonio is not crowded compared to most major cities. And yes there is traffic but it's not a nightmare. I live in San Antonio too and I can get most anywhere in 20 minutes.

20 minutes?

That is a lie.

I drive Stone Oak Prwy daily and it takes 45 mniutes to get from Canyon Golf to 1604!!!

I also drive Potranco and Seascape to 410/Culebra and that takes 1 hour!

Do not believe that traffic in SA is anything less than a joke.

I firmly believe that SA is home to some of the coutntry's worst drivers and most horrendous highway systems.

Mr. Pogi - My husband and I WERE planning on moving to SA to be closer to relatives but now, my parents have decided to stay in NY and my husband has just started a new business that we have to stay in SD for.

While I have fond memories of my life in SA and the friends I made, SA is very different than most cities of comparable size in Southern California. I'm sure it has changed quite a bit in the 15 yrs since I lived there but I really wanted to move there to be closer to family and better schools.

In comparing SD to SA, I can find many positives about each city and find negatives in both.

Doesn't necessarily mean one is better than the other. They are just really different!

As far as sophistication - again, having traveled all over the country, "sophistication" is in the eye of the beholder. What is considered sophisticated in Dallas is not going to be considered sophisticated in NYC. You cannot compare!

All cities cultivate a different vibe...a different culture. What's sophisticated to one is hick to another. What is hick to some is good, old-fashioned fun for others.

Who are any of us to judge?

I know that my face starts to ache when I am in a situation where I am obliged to laugh, smile and carry-on with a sophisticated group of people. But at the same time, I don't think I'd be enjoying myself sitting in a smoky bar, listening to country music & shooting pool. Just not MY thing.

If you're looking for sophistication (which I don't think TToes was looking for) then San Antonio is NOT the place to be.

But it's not THAT bad.

San Antonio isn't a major city. It's a town with a few office high rises in the center, completely and totally different from Los Angeles.

Achoke...you're exactly right.....her husband doesn't want to drive two hours to Six Flags......he prefers a 2-4 commute twice a day. I'd say that's a much better trade off.

AC...seriously, no offense taken.....TT and I are friends. She just needs to calm down, own their choice to try something that didn't work out and move on. There isn't anyneed for drama and inflammatory comments. I'm happy she got her wish to move back. Things could have been much worse for her family. This was simply a learning experience for her. Some of us learn about life through the challenges. Letting go of the past and readjusting with an appreciative and positive mindset always serves one better.

A soon to be ex-neighbor of TT

Hey hey hey! TT...come on. he was only defending himself and the place he enjoys as home. Please let this go. You are fortunate that you are now going back home, so why are you still so bitter? Lift up you new life and stay out of the gutter. Calling someone a "troll" is completely out of line when you in fact have dished out quite a bit and we have sat back and "taken it". I can't imagine why you're so angry when you're dreams are unfolding before you.

Peace to you and your family. I hope your move goes well and uneventful.
