I'm looking to relocate to Los Angeles with my husband and 2 kids; grades 5 and 3. Manhattan Beach appears to have good schools. We are coming from the North East so the community of Manhattan Village looks attractive with the community pool and roads so the kids can ride bikes. Are there any disadvantages beyond being far from the ocean as compared to the tree and hill sections that are West of Sepulveda.

It is not far from the ocean at all. It is a very desirable area for those who move in from out of town. But there are some things people who move here do not know before buying. The area known as the "Village" was once a tank farm for Chevron or Standard Oil.

It is a gated area, but most of us living here are not that impressed by it.

However, I would like to say that Manhattan Beach is a great place to live and the schools are great.

I was born and raised here. Can't seem to part myself from the place.

PM me if you want specifics of the area.
