Default Best neighborhood near Rosemead

Hello Everyone,

Just got a job in Rosemead and looking for a house in a good "family" neighborhood. What's the best area near Rosemead with excellent schools?

Would like to limit the commute to no more than 30-40 mins. (This probably rules out anything East of Rosemead)

Price range is ~$500-600K

Thanks for your inputs

I basically grew up in the Rosemead area, it has a lot of nice neighborhoods, I feel my education there was excellent; basically a very decent lower middle class town, that doesn't get the Ewe's and Awe's like it's overrated, extremely overvalued snobby neighbor, Temple City. Both Rosemead and Temple City now have very large Asian populations.

Go talk with the Chamber of Commerce, they are on Muscatel, just south of Valley Blvd., across the street from the library.

BTW, do yourself and the rest of the world a favor and bring your price point down to a reasonable $350,000 for a immaculate 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath. In the upper desert they are unloading 2 bedrooms, 1 bath for $45,000.

It's a buyer's market use it to your advantage.

Temple City has excellent schools. I agree with Radical Raul that Temple City is waaaaay overpriced, though. If Rosemead has good schools, live in Rosemead!

From my experience, all the school districts in the San Gabriel Valley are all excellent; Alhambra, Garvey, El Monte, Duarte, and Pasadena, La Puente/Hacienda Heights, I would not hesitate to send my children to any of these school districts.

Thanks for the responses.

Watching the traffic patterns, it appears that anything east of rosemead is horrible for a commute (8-5 working hours). So at this point I have limited the search to cities either North or South of Rosemead.

Looked into the Spyglass Hills section of Whittier - it seemed nice, any insights?

Thanks

If you are using public schools, Temple City or Arcadia.

Alhambra can be nice also, but the schools are not as good though Mark Keppel seems to still have a good reputation.

come on, you know the Rosemead schools are not Excellant!! Read what the OP is asking. YOu are right, Rosemead, is a lower middle class city. This isn't meant to be negative, but just not what the OP seems to want. I was raised in the SGV and have many friends still living there, the last thing I would call Temple City is snobby.

Show us some test scores that indicate Arcadia and Temple City have over rated schools? What are you judging your opinion on, I doubt they are facts..Again, every city has good and bad, but for someone wanting really good schools for their kids, not all of SGV schools will meet those needs.

If I had the time I could break this down to you, I suggest you read up on what Elizabeth Warren has to say about this subject.

Adios.
