Default Best Beach in Newport Beach

Going down to Newport Beach w/ my family this weekend. We're looking for a hotel but, as we've never been there, aren't sure which beach is the best for families. From what I've found, Newport Beach(w/the pier), as well as Balboa Beach are the favorites.

Are there any others I'm missing and which ones would be our best option?

Thanks!

Check out the Wedge- worth it if there's a big south/southwest swell.

Newport/Balboa are basically the same beach.

You might also try Huntington Beach a little to the north.

Bolsa Chica and Sunset Beach are also nice spots. I believe it is either Bolsa or Sunset Beach that has fire pits. Both of them are nice beaches, and I believe there are some free parking areas around Sunset Beach.

For little kids you might want to consider Lower Newport bay\ Castaways Pk [safe swimming w/ boat rentals]. You may want to post this on the Orange Co forum.
