Default Acton climate, housing

Hello all. I've read all the negative things about Palmdale/Lancaster, but I have a job offer there and would like to make the best of it by living on the west side, preferably in the foothills or mountains.

Acton seems fair, aside from the high school. Does it get as windy there in the afternoons as it does in Palmdale? I've seen a few photos of the area; some show vegetation, others show dust. I assume it has a semi-desert feel, but I'd rather not have a dust storm every day.

I'd also appreciate comments on housing (looking in the $200k range) in Acton and nearby mountain areas like Agua Dulce or Leona Valley.

Thanks.

Ok, no takers on that one. How about bugs? It seems like it would be too dry for a lot of insects, but anyone in the area care to comment?

Acton is much nicer than Palmdale/Lancaster area.
Take a drive down Plamdale Blvd. And Ave. I in Lancaster east From the 14 Fwy. And see what you see And them take a drive down Crown Valley in acton. That drive will tell you where you want to be. Don't forget Acton is only 12 miles from what you see on palmdale Blve.

I drive though there every work day on the 14 freeway and it is a higher elevation than the Antelope Valley so it is usually a bit different in temperature. In the winter, snow may not make it on the valley floor, but Acton will be white. In the summer it is cooler. Yesterday it was about 10 degrees different, high 80's Palmdale and high 70's Acton. Acton gets it's share of wind, but it is not in the same league and the Anteblow Valley.

The Acton environment - typical semi arid somewhat elevated slightly hilly area with some rock outcroppings (e.g. the famous "Vasquez Rocks" seen in many TV shows and movies). Main vegetation is sage scrub / low growing chaparral / yucca with clumps of scrub oak and juniper. Very scenic in general with a good "old west" feel. I would not mind living there.
