Default morning commute LA to San Diego?

(I posted this on the LA board too, I hope that's ok)

Hi all. I'm new here and hope you can help me with my traffic question.

Tomorrow I have to drive from LA to San Diego and be there for a 9am meeting. I have to do this a few more times in the next several weeks. I've done that drive before but never that early. I'll be taking the 5 from around downtown.

How long will it take? What time should I start? Where and when are the bottlenecks? How early should I start to miss the LA, OC, and San Diego rush hours, if that's possible?

Thank you!
Sadie

Leave early! It's a reverse commute through LA and OC but you will hit southbound traffic from Oceanside to almost downtown SD which will probably take 45-60 mins. I would leave at least 2 hours early if not more. Better to get there early and hang out for a little while than to get stuck in traffic.

Thank you!

When you say 2 hours early, what time do you mean? I don't have a good sense of the total. I need to safely be there by 9. Is 5:30 early enough? 5?

THanks!
