That depends upon what you're looking for there. Care to be more specific?

It is really impossible to generalize areas in Culver City - one street is different from the next and it all depends on what you're looking for - house, condo, apt? Walk to shops? You definitely need to visit and drive around in person.

The best part of Culver City IMO is central Culver City. I used to live right by Veterans' Park, which is a superb area. You really can't go wrong by there or the studios and downtown area.

Southern Culver City is the wealthiest part (and coincidentally the blackest part), because it was developed later than the rest of CC it feels too "suburban" for me.

Eastern Culver City? Good, surprisingly so considering its proximity to some bad areas.

Western Culver City is definitely the worst part - there are gang issues around the Mar Vista Gardens projects on Inglewood Blvd. But even west of the 405not everything is bad. I know people who live in western Culver City who are perfectly happy with it. West of the 405/Sawtelle things vary street by street, some streets are perfectly fine, others are definitely not. Ethnically that area's Latino and Asian, with a few non-Latino whites (albeit much fewer than the rest of CC, even the mostly black southern areas). You'll find Asians in all parts of Culver City, the way things are going it looks like Asians will be tied with, or even ahead of, Latinos as Culver City's second largest ethnic group next to non-Latino whites in the 2010 census. The Asian population has skyrocketed while the non-Latino white and Latino populations have remained about the same and the black population has decreased. It's only a matter of time until Asians are the plurality. The western part of CC is the only part in which safety would be an issue. I don't know if the state budget crisis has derailed UCLA's plans to take over MV Gardens for student housing ; if those plans go through, that area will be radically transformed.

Agree .. downtown Culver City is small but pretty clean and lively. I don't frequent the restaurants there so much, but there are some nice places around there.

Its nice up to the LA river to the east where the startups and nice warehouses are.

Mar Vista Gardens. A strange neighborhood for sure. Its some pretty gnarly projects surrounded by a decent neighborhood.

Didn't know about UCLA taking over the gardens? Yeah that would radically transform that area.

That's Ballona Creek, not the LA River. The far east of Culver City (which is actually in the 323 area code, not the 310) has very few residents, it's industrial with a large number of film industry related and design businesses.

I'll agree much of western CC is decent, it just depends what streets you're on.

Yes it would. There have already been buildings at the Gardens that have been vacated.

I used to live near the "arts district"- wasn't a bad neighborhood- but there are some sketchy parts going east of Washington. I have a friend that currently lives by the Gardens, he didn't have any problems until a few weeks ago when his car was vandalized. I've also heard things about people being attacked by the bike trail (Ballona) running on the south end of the Gardens.

Washington's an east/west street so I'm not sure what you mean.

I agree there are some sketchy neighborhoods near the arts district but they are not in Culver City - those are technically in the South Robertson, Mid-City, and West Adams areas of Los Angeles. I had mentioned eastern Culver City being close to some bad areas earlier in the thread, however it is remarkably safe considering the close proximity of those areas.

You'd find that anywhere in the L.A. area.

Problems of people being attacked on the bike trail by the Gardens have existed ever since the bike trail was opened.
