Default Commuting From Orange County(OC) (605) to Westwood (UCLA)

Ok so news came today that I am transferring locations and getting moved out to Westwood. The location is right by UCLA and I currently am living in Orange County. I am trying to find the best times and best freeways to drive to get there. My start times are either 8:00AM or 4:30PM depending on wether I work the day or the night. I could work any days Mon-Sun so any help what so ever would be great. I am getting married in August and I want to make sure that I still come home at a decent hour to spend some time with my soon to be new wife. Please help if you can.....
THANKS!!!!

It won't be pretty. It is the worst traffic in the city. 605 N to the 5 N to the 10 W sucks. 605 to the 105 W to the 405 N sucks.

Avoid the Friday day shift especially, because getting out of LA on a Friday night is particularly bad.
Your night shift won't be that bad, because you'll be going against traffic..

You might look for a UCLA vanpool. It won't get you home any faster, but, you feel less aggravated.

Get a hybrid car - you'll be spending a lot of time on the road. Or move closer if you can.

That is going to be tough. Check the UCLA Vanpool, Metro Vanpool, and Enterprise Vanpools to see if there is one going from your area to Westwood. It might be more relaxing.

There are two options (words)... "Move" "Closer."

That is one of the worst drives per distance I think in the world. Blech.

Oh I didn't notice. Take the night shift. It won't be as bad. You won't have a life if you do that though. Eh. It's not pretty either way.

Serious on the worst commute... I am definitely not looking forward to it but I don't have much of an option. Thanks so much for the feedback. I am going to check out the vanpool options I haven't thought much about that. I'm also maybe thinking of investing in a motorcycle. That may make life a bit easier.
