Commute Time from Glendale/Pasadena to Duarte
I recently accepted a job offer in Duarte and I currently live in the San Fernando Valley. I am planning on moving closer to my work but I do not want to live in Duarte. The places that I am considering are Glendale and Pasadena. I have to be at work by 06:30pm and wanted to know about how long the commute would be from Glendale or Pasadena at that time of the day taking the 210E. What time would I have to leave my home to get to Duarte by 06:30pm? Any place that I will move to will be about 5-10 minutes from the freeway entrances.
If I choose Pasadena, would I save a significant amount of time (considering traffic) driving to work as opposed to living in Glendale?

Yes, look at Monrovia. It's a lot nicer than you might imagine.
Otherwise, go with Pasadena. Glendale is still pretty far from Duarte.

You're going "with" traffic (longer commute time) from Pasadena to Duarte. If you move east of Duarte, you'd cut your commute time substantially. But time spent in your car may not be as important as the city you want to live in.

I would agree, if you are driving a night rush hour which 6:30 pm would be, you would be going against the traffic living in Glendora and if you lived in Monrovia, you would be only a few miles from work, how about Sierra Madre? Of course I don't know your price range and if you are renting or buying and if you are thinking house or apartment??

Thank you everyone for the responses and suggestions.
I am in my 20s and I specifically chose Glendale/Pasadena because I felt like there would be much more activities there for me than the other cities mentioned. I only work 3 days a week full-time so the rest of the week, I'd have lots of time to relax and enjoy. I figured that moving to Glendale/Pasadena would be much better than commuting from Encino/Sherman Oaks area during rush hour. I do not know much about Sierra Madre so I will do some research. I am thinking of renting a one bedroom apartment for up to $1600/month max.

Given your age, budget, work schedule... go with Pasadena, somewhere along the gold line.

if it will only be 3 days a week, then pasadena will be a tolerable commute, but the 210 will be very, very slow on the days you do drive to work. even though the distance is not great, i would count on a minimum 30 minute commute, probably closer to 45 minutes (regardless if you take foothill blvd. or the 210).

If I take the streets (the ones farther south from the 210E), will the commute be the same? I am thinking of trying to drive through little streets and a few big streets to get to Duarte?
Thanks

at that time of day heading east, every possible road you can imagine is backed up.
