Hey there, I'm going to be moving to the franklin and argyle area of hwood in august. I'm moving from the lankershim/magnolia..

AND I'm just wondering what this area is like. It is an awesome apartment with a GREAT view of downtown and hollywood. The people were great, the area looked great. I'm going to be living up the hill, right as it slights right. I really didnt inspect what was down the hill. Is it walking distance to any good restaurants? clubs? bars? whats the area like at night? hopefully the same as day. Any neighboring areas I should avoid at night or otherwise?

Just curious, the place is already a sealed deal, just hoping to get some feedback and have an idea before I get there. Ill probably drive over there and roam a little too...

thanks, hopefully some peps can inform me.

that's too close to the freeway for me, but otherwise it is a decent area. as far as stuff within walking distance, franklin village is a few blocks to the east and hollywood blvd is a few blocks to the south, so i'm sure you can stay busy. also, los feliz would be a short bike ride away if that sort of thing interests you. there is also a metro stop for the red line just down the way for easy access to downtown.

yes! franklin village I forgot about that!....yes it is rather close....not close enough to hear or anything tho, so I don't mind. Knowing I can get on 101 in a matter of 2 minutes is great to me...lol..but what do I know!?...hwood blvd scares me....so u think its decent area too? thats good....i don't know, this city just makes me paranoid, it can be like compton one block down from a good neighborhood (well not like compton but close!) and a totally different area at night. I'm from SF where its pretty well outlined of what is good and what is bad...SF's neighborhoods are organized by several blocks, unlike here where its EVERY block....

Too bad the freeway is right there (good for access, I know) but other than that it's a good location. Hollywood Blvd west of Argyle is pretty nice; there's a stretch there to the east that isn't particulary exciting, but then things pick up again as you head east towards Western. (to the west is generally safer along Hollywood Blvd, to the east gets a little sketchier) In any case, you'll be within walking distance of tons of things. We used to live not too far away from there (on the other side of the freeway, in the Yucca corridor area) and there were always tons of people out walking late at night. Use basic common sense and you should be fine.

I don't like that area. Seedy and loud and congested. IMO, anything east of Fairfax is unappealing. But, that's me.
