I'm looking at an apartment in Venice, at aprox. crestmoore place at abbott kinney...I am totally unfamiliar with this area. On our last trip to LA the closest we came to Venice was Santa Monica. I'm wondering about crime, the general feel of the neighborhood and parking, the write up says "plenty of street parking available", is my car likely to get broken into? I'm living in SF at the moment and we are lucky enough to have a garage. I'd like a little info on the area before I take another trip down to check it out. ANY advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Well, all I can say is that they cleaned up Venice from what it used to be. The area should be ok.

Good luck!

Your personal safety should be fine. I don't know the area well enough to know how your car will fare parked on the street.

that area is in the nicer part of venice. it certainly isn't the most interesting part of venice, but you are a short bike ride from a number of different happening spots (ie abbot kinney north of venice blvd, main st, the boardwalk, the venice pier, etc.). i wouldn't count on plenty of street parking though. try to secure an off street spot if you can.
