Default Want to buy a house

budget is $250,000
area around hollywood or sunset. right now im renting in sunset/western. my highschool's right at hollywood/highland. planning to go to cheap community college for 2 years nearby. i really don't want to deal with any gang problem.
any place nearby for a place with 2+ bedroom and 2+ bathroom that's around $250,000? i was looking into north hollywood or if anyone have any other suggestion. there will be 5 family member living there, 2 will share room since they are little, so i would say 2 or 3 bedrooms and ~2 bathroom.

Not sure about the area, but... Moderator cut: deleted link

check Realtor.com, which has a listing at 12660 Arminta in N. Hollywood.

You've got to be kidding. I really thought these trolls had ended. If you want to go to North Hollywood north of Sherman Way or so, you can find a fixer for as low as $190K or so and up to about $250K MAYBE....most already have multiple bids......but that is pretty far from Hollywood/Highland. And the gang issue WILL be in that area.

Arleta is simillarly priced and you will actually be able to find a move in condition place for that price. There is not a current gang problem in Arleta. But so much of the inventory there has been bought up by investors who inevitably will need to rent via the section 8 program(I'd guess that 80-90% of the sales in the past year are investor purchases and prices and when there are not enough rentors to fill the houses, owners go to section 8) and who knows what that means for the future of that community.

i already have gang problem where i'm living at, i'm not asking for a completely safe place, as that would be close to impossible, im just looking for less. by "close to hollywood/highland" i mean no more than half an hour drive or at least close to a metro station. i'm going to check that place in arminta out, btw, section 8 is the housing for low income people right?

Yes. Section 8 is for low income people. If your Section 8 neighbor is a handicap person on SSI, than you have no problems. But if your Section 8 neighbor is 23 and her baby daddy stays with her(illegally) and brings all his gang banger friends over(illegally) and every time you call the Housing Authority they come out and nothing is going on, you are screwed.
