Why are all of the "All America Cities" I see usually dumps?

Because the All-America City Award recognizes communities that work toward overcoming community-wide challenges. You're definitely not going to see an upscale, trendy community full of soy latte sipping yogis winning such an award.

I think this means absolutely nothing!!!!!! I guess it is better than being awarded the dumpy city of the year or something, but these awards are so subjective, depending on who is giving them.

What would you consider it??? I think it's not only preposterous to call it an all american city, but it's quite the opposite...

It isn't being called an all-american city. It's being given an award with a possibly confusingly-similar name, which is being awarded on the basis of overcoming challenges.
You have to read the article.
I'm with Nita though - it doesn't seem to mean much in the overall scheme of things - unless you are one of the city movers of Inglewood who have been working hard to overcome the city's challenges. For them, it's a mile marker showing the success of their efforts.

I don't see why some people here have to be so negative. Inglewood is not a dump, it is a unpcoming part of the South Bay. Lake Conroe, you stay in Texas, Clearly, it is an American city.

Have you actually ever left the confines of the Orange Curtain and driven around Inglewood?
No need to answer that question. Your post says no.
