If someone is stabbed in the chest, or shot. There is little you can do.
He probably stumbled and became unconsious within a few very short minutes and death followed shortly thereafter.

Someone probably called 911 and emergency was in route, however it takes time to convey the info to 911 who calls the FD, let alone actually arriving to the scene.

If you want to see people stand around in shock and not do anything, visit any city of the world.

The intersection of Santa Monica & Vine in itself speaks volumes.

To Mike,

I think the reason so many are asking questions is you posted about a situation it now appears you knew very little about. You came here, pretty much attacking people in So CA and now you admit, you have no clue what really happened. He could have been dead immediately, as someone said he could have been thrown out of a moving car, maybe hit by a car, or whatever. Obviously you were bothered by this, who wouldn't be, but it does appear you jumped to conclusions.

There are a few factors on why people didn't help.

1) There's a chance that by treating a wounded individual without the proper gear (i.e. latex gloves) you can acquire whatever disease that the individual has.

2) If you don't have proper experience to treat a person without injuring said person more, there's a chance that you could end up exacerbating the situation and end up further injuring or possibly even kill the said individual.

With that said, if you lack the prerequisites above then the best thing you can do is to call 911 and hope for the paramedics to arrive quickly.

But I do HOPE you did call the paramedics instead of rushing back home to go to City-Date to post how bad and insensitive Angelenos are, right?

I AM AN ANGELENO. I have lived in the major Los Angeles area for over 20 years and I grew up in nearby Oxnard. I'm sorry that you think that I, a 40 year old man living in the city with his two kids, is attacking the people of the city. I am not trying to attack anyone and as I said, I WOULD HAVE DONE MORE than called the paramedics and police if I had came upon the incident sooner.

I retired from LAFD in 2003. Believe it or not, one of the problems we'd frequently encounter at the scene of accident, mayhem or other forms of injury was too many civilians willing to help. They'd actually get in the way.

I'd rather see that than indifference, though.

"Gabriel Banos Arcos, a 17-year-old Latino, on June 19. Banos was shot in the 6200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood."

LAT Homicides were just updated.
There is my proof.

I didnt recall anyone disputing what you saw, just what you thought should have happened. Better than someone stepping up to help resurrect the corpse, ask yourself what did he do to bring that on himself. Was it a tragic random wrong place, wrong time or something else.

In watching the video, the only thing anyone could have done was throw a blanket over his body. 2 shots to the head and three to the chest = death.

I just have to say again, that sounds horrible for you to have seen. I totally understand why you feel upset - your vivid description of the blood on his hands - apparently where he had tried to stop his own bleeding - says it all.
