Researching prior traffic violations and/or arrest reports
I need to track down some information on past traffic violations (of my own) such as date and exact offense, going back the past 10 years. Does anyone know how I can access this information.
Is this something the California DMV would be able to provide me with?
There are lots of websites online which will sell me information reports on myself, but I have no way of knowing if they actually contain what I am looking for.
I also need to find out the arrest history for a family member of mine. They were arrested in LA county although charges were dropped so there was no criminal record, but we don't know how to go about finding out information about this old case.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks so much in advance,
cptgal

I had to get one for a gun purchase years ago, I went to the DMV and it cost a couple dollars.

Thanks I will try them on Monday. Do you know if there is a form I need to fill out? I'd love to make an appt with the DMV, but different offices around me here only deal with certain things, so I'm not sure what to search for.
I applied for a new DL a few weeks ago and the field office I went to only did drivers tests and DLs. So just want to try save some time.
Thanks so much- appreciate the advice.
Now just need to find out about expunged/dismissed legal records.

Is this it? http://www.dmv.ca.gov/forms/inf/inf1125.pdf
I just realized this will be helpful, but will probably only show things on my record.
For example, if you get a ticket, but go to traffic school, does that still appear on your record? I thought not, but I don't know. I guess I'll find out this week.

You have zero chance of obtaining the arrest history of someone else, even an immediate family member.
If the family member is able to request it, they can go to the agency that arrested them and request the disposition of their case.
If they don't know which agency arrested them, they can contact the California Department of Justice: Request Your Own Criminal Record - Background Checks - California Dept. of Justice - Office of the Attorney General

Thanks for the link as well - I'd found that earlier this evening, but will the costs and the fingerprints (and fees for that) it just seemed like a pain in the butt, but good to know he has that option.
When you say go to the agency that arrested him - does he need to know exactly which police station? or any in that county?
Thanks again!

By the agency that arrested him....I do not mean the station as several agencies have multiple stations. I mean the agency...like LAPD, Sheriffs, Inglewood PD, Santa Monica PD, Long Beach PD, etc.
LAPD has like 20 stations and covers from Chatsworth down to San Pedro. Sheriffs contracts with a whole bunch of cities in LA county like Temple City, Rosemead, West Hollywood, and also covers unincorporated county area and the courts and jails. Then several smaller cities have their own police force with Long Beach having multiple stations.
I think he may be able to go to the Sheriffs office in Norwalk to get a arrest history for the entire county, including individual city agencies, but I'm not positive and could not find the information online.
