That is the most remarkable thing about this anomalous pattern. The lack of warmth inland. Instead, other than a few short lived heat events, it's been cooler than normal inland. Also, the amount of cloud cover and rain is above normal.

While I can certainly appreciate the feelings of inland urbanites, who cherish the lack of heat, I feel sorry for some of our farmers.

Crops are selected based on long years of experience and on climate zones. Therefore, the selections in places like the Sacramento Valley, the San Joaquin Valley, The Western Mojave, The IE, The Coachella Valley and The Imperial Valley are all based on typical norms. Unfortunately, this year, they are running late in these places. Yields will be impacted.

Yes! And other parts of greater L.A. and the valleys as well. The cooler weather was nice while it lasted!

Well you'll be able to enjoy it again next week. Looks like the same kind of weather system is rolling in on Monday.. IE is in the 90s for the weekend, will be in the low 80s with marine layer next week. Should be even better in the valleys

I remember that very well; the worst part is that it was SO humid (by California standards, anyway!), and it didn't cool down at night. I think I ran my a/c for three days straight. By the time the cool air went from the window a/c unit through two fans to my bed across the living room, it was already warm. I'm so glad it's cooler on the east side of the Valley; it was "only" 113 degrees here in Sherman Oaks that day!

Agreed! I dont have A/C...I live one block from the beach here in LB, and it got up to 105 outside each afternoon during that heat wave (I had a digital thermometer at the time). In fact, one day that my digital thermometer still holds as a "record" in its memory, it measured 108 outside in the shade....one block from the beach. At night, it would cool down to...oh, 85 degrees or so. 85 degrees at 1 or 2AM! Unbelievable. Without A/C, my wife and I were suffering like no other, sweating just lying in bed. Disgusting.

Right now, it's the mid-70s here, sunny, with a nice cool breeze rolling through the apartment. It's actually about as perfect as weather can get IMHO.

I'm dreading the upcoming heat waves. Last summer, I vowed to my wife that we would finally own our first home with A/C before this summer came around. Yet, here we are.....

I am trying to have a good time at the beach, but this weather is annoying me. I ride my bike ~16 miles to SAMO from Culver City and you know what I get on the way? Heavy winds, cold and ANNOYING heavy winds. Remember the end of April? I want that back.

What's the marine layer? I've heard it mentioned in other threads as well.

Low clouds that come off the ocean and inland a bit that's common in the mornings in May and June. The farther inland you are, the earlier in the day it burns off. The beaches sometimes won't see much blue sky this time of year until late in the afternoon. I don't mind it because it keeps it cool. Better than it being 80 degrees at 9am.
