Default Pasadena downtown...

Are their mix-used centers in downtown Pasadena with clothing stores, or our their clothing stores just along streets?

There's a place called Paseo Colorado in downtown Pasadena; it's on the site of what used to be an enclosed mall (a disaster of urban "renewal" in the early '80s). Much of the mall was torn down (I think a few parts - maybe the Macy's? still remain), opened up, and a fancy new expansive outdoor mall-esque space built. It incorporates shops, restaurants, I think offices, a grocery store, and housing.

There are other developments (not sure if you would call them "centers" or not - I'm specifically thinking of One Colorado) in Old Pasadena that have both stores facing the street as well as have interior alleys and plaza space with stores. The buildings are historic, and the alleys used to be used as regular working alleys, but are now quite posh and upscale. There's office, retail, and restaurants, but no housing in that particular location. Many stores have openings on both the alley/courtyard and on the street sides.
