Instead of attending college right after high school, I decided to take some time off. I'm eager for something new- meeting new people, experiencing and learning about different cultures and places, and to pursue a career in wardrobe styling. I'm living alone in a wonderful guesthouse and am very grateful for my parents support. Though right now I am not currently working, I am fortunate to have opportunities in the fashion industry and possible jobs. However, one thing that I am worried about is making friends here in LA. Granted, I've only been here for two weeks- but it's been difficult to meet people. I'm pretty outgoing and have made it a habit to always try and strike up conversation. Any suggestions as to where or how a 18 year old girl should go about finding some friends here in LA?
Any help is much appreciated.
Join clubs (like another member said meetup.com), take classes (drawing, cooking, acting etc), work part time, if you're religious you can join a church, volunteer. And remember, you won't make friends being cooped up at home, so get out. Take a good book and hang out at the coffee shop down the street. Go to the farmer's market.

I met one of my best friends at a hair salon. We just started talking and hit it off right away. So although LA people can be a bit standoffish, there are plenty of friendly people in LA. Moving and meeting people can be tough. But its all about adjusting and getting involved in things that interest you.
