LA or South Beach
If you were well of financially and had narrowed your search to LA or South Beach which would you choose? Lets say you are a young couple with no kids. House or Condo? What do you feel are the pros and cons of each city?

South Beach... Florida? San Francisco? New York?
Or did you mean South Bay?
Or some other city that ends with "Beach?"
Also, what do you mean by LA? The city itself or the area? It is hard to sum up the city or the area in a short list of pros and cons. You really have to ask about specific parts.

Probably would have gotten a better response if you specified So. Beach (as being in Miami Beach) and a specific area of LA (like Santa Monica).
It all comes down to personal preference. For me I'd take LA (say Santa Monica for example) over South Beach. Don't get me wrong, as I like Miami/So. Fla.
The primary reasons for me are: South Beach is far more one-dimensional than Santa Monica. Much more variety to life in Santa Monica/LA: Geography (beach, mountains, desert), Culture, the Arts, etc. Also, LA has a definite Latino flavor but it also has MUCH more than just that. In Miami, the "diversity" is primarily Cuban/Latino and not much else.

I absolutely loathe Florida and would never live there... the money is irrelevant.

Since this is the Los Angeles forum, you may not get much of an answer regarding a community in Florida.

Ok that helps a bit. But, South Beach is a small area of a 300,000 person city in 50 or so sq miles. LA is a city of 4 million in nearly 500 sq miles. You will find a bit of everything in LA. If you were financially strapped you could sure find some cheap places in LA, however you probably wouldn't want to live there.
Personally I would choose LA because once you are not cash strapped anymore you wouldn't have to move very far to be in a better area. Right now if you are low on cash you may have to settle for somewhere you rather not live.
It really just depends on what you like. LA and Miami may seem similar to people not familiar with them, however they are worlds apart.
Also, maybe little known fact, when filming, Downtown Long Beach just south of LA stands in for Miami a lot.
