I live in the area,I have posted many times about MP,Alhambra, etc. The Focus Plaza is pretty big,so one stop, you can get everything you want,I didn't take a picture of the entire plaza,I should have videod it. There is a plaza next to it and the Hilton across with lots of shopping too.
I have some pic of the Focus Plaza, In the middle, there are 4 stories, the first two are clothings and shoes etc,the entire third story is jewelry, the third floor is a big restaurant which serves dim sum at noon. Lots of parking, there is also underground parking.

This is across the street, there is a Hilton on the left side.

So, as a follow-up to my original post, I made it out to the San Gabriel Valley this weekend to check out some of the local attractions. The restaurant, 101 Noodle Express, that PBergen recommended is INCREDIBLE. The beef rolls there alone will be reason for me to come back out to this part of town. Alhambra and Monterey Park struck me as pretty low key, both in terms of residential and commercial development. San Gabriel was a little more my style in terms of residential, and I thoroughly enjoyed touring the San Gabriel mission... the oldest standing structure of it's kind in California south of Monterey. I was really impressed with Focus Plaza, including the 99 Market there. Soooo many restaurants and shops... and I was one of the only non-asians there. The other thing that really impressed me was the residential areas in San Marino... wow... those are some seriously amazing homes and the tree cover is fantastic. Thanks to everyone for their recommendation! I plan to head out there again soon and check out some of the other areas I didn't get a chance to see.

sam, glad you had a good time in the sgv. there's just so much out there - what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg. IMO it's the premier chinese enclave in the entire country.
