JackSparrow answered the question. However, I would add that the area north of Wilshire is perhaps most desirable, particularly near The Grove and Farmers Market and Third Street in general. Park LaBrea is the largest residential community of Miracle Mile with more than 10,000 residents. There is a nice mixture of newer apartments like the the Palazzo at Park LaBrea and many well maintained older buildings filled with a lot of charm and classic old LA noir personality on streets like Detroit, Blackburn, 6th Street, among many others. Another great street is Sycamore between Third Street and Melrose which is more Hancock Park adjacent than Miracle Mile.

honu1950: There are lofts in place downtown that are very secure. They have gated parking garages, and security guards at the entrance, etc. You could get a nice one for the prixe you mentioned. I don't know where FDIM is located, so I am not sure how 'downtown proper' plays into the scenario.

Hope that helps!
Thanks, I know where this area is,
