A friend of mine just recently moved to Culver City. She has twin boys who are in 2nd grade. They ended up sending the kids to public school and so far are impressed. They like Culver City, too. It is a diverse city, with mostly older homes, but she likes the atmosphere and says everyone is very friendly. Its very close to LA, but doesn't feel like it is LA (if that makes sense). I have no idea about rental prices, but there may be something in your price range. Drive from Culver City to the Santa Monica blvd offramp is only a couple offramps north of Culver City (Venice/Washington/Culver) on the 405.

Default Where to Live in LA, and Where to Learn

Hi, you may have already settled in LA, but just for your information. Considering your work location, I would try to find something around UCLA in West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, or Palazzo Apartment right by Grove (shopping mall on Fairfax). In these places, you would find something under $1500. I have found a apartment in Beverly Hills, which was $800/month a couple of years ago. If I would send my kids to a good school, I keep up with a good neighbourhood like Beverly Hills, Manhattan Beach, or send them to a good private school like Marlbrough or Lise Francais. I lived in West LA for a long, but now I am enjoying my life in Manhattan Beach. Commute from here to center LA is not so bad. Also, you may be able to find a good roommate in a good neighbourhood.
