Best mexican restaurant (20 minutes or less from Marina Del Rey)
My parents are visiting and I want to take them for good mexican food (i.e. no tex mex)
Ideally, less than a 20 minute drive from Marina Del Rey.
Thanks!

Find a place that has little toyota trucks with lawnmowers and leaf blowers in the a truck bed, parked out in front. Listen for ranchera music.
No kidding. It's the best. Maybe not the best ambiance but the food is authentic and the price is right.

So, there are actually a bunch as I'm sure you can imagine, it really depends on your tastes. For a simple menu, I would definitely go with El Cholo in Santa Monica (10th/Wilshire). If you're looking for good margaritas and a cozier atmosphere then go to La Cabana in Venice (Lincoln/Rose). Caddy corner to La Cabana is Casablanca, which has amazing tortillas (I mean AMAZING!) and a large selection of calamari. If you're looking for cheap eats, there is a place called Chuy's at Washington/McLaughlin. The food is pretty good, but you should easily eat for under $10/person. If you're not looking to leave the marina, then there is Baja Cantina (great happy hour) and El Torito (great location on the water, make sure to sit by the window). Lastly, and this is my wife and I's new favorite, is Casa Sanchez at Culver/Centinela. It's not cheap, but the food is great and there is also live entertainment. This is is definitely a fine dining establishment. To save a few bucks go ahead and buy a discounted gift certificate for casa sanchez at www.restaurant.com.

Can't go wrong with Pancho's in Manhattan Beach. It's pricey though. If you try it, request to be seated downstairs.

I forgot another one, Paco's Tacos at Washington/Centinela is also very good. the dozens of people who are waiting to be seated will attest to this. If you go here, it will take a while to be seated, but don't be too worried because they will provide you chips and salsa and take your margarita orders before you're sat for dinner.
