Default Another relocation thread, Torrance to Culver City commute

Hi, I'll be moving to CA in 3 weeks from now and am looking for a place to settle in.
My new job will be located in Culver City, near Veteran's park. When I was there for an interview, I thought that Culver City was quite a nice area, esp. veteran's park area.
My kid will be soon going to a kindergarten and I want to move to a city which is safe and has a good school district.
By searching this forum quite a bit, I found that Torrance might be a good place to look for a rental, and later buying. Yeah, there were several other places of recommendations, but looking at the map, Torrance was a choice of mine.
I'm wondering what the commute is going to be like in a normal day traffic, morning and evening.
Google map is telling me that 1. without traffic, it will take about 25 minutes, 2 with morning traffic, it will take up to 50 minutes, then 3. with evening traffic, from Culver City to Torrance, it will take about 35 minutes.
Are those assumption pretty much accurate?
Does anyone take this route everyday or something similar?
I found several places of interest on the web, and they're all located either in 90503 or 90505 zipcode. My budget for a rental would be between $1800-$2300 for 2 beds/2 baths.
Thanks in advance!
