Default Is there any possibility of finding a studio or 1br/1ba for under $1k?

I know this is a stretch. I'm planning on moving to LA within the next year and was wondering if studio apartments or 1 br/1ba apartments for under $1k were at all possible in silverlake/studio city/glendale/burbank/noho/west hollywood areas. (Clearly I'm an actor.) I found a matches in studio city and glendale on apartments.com and craigslist for around $850 (which would be unbelievably perfect) and was wondering if that meant they were in unsafe areas or simply lies. Any of you have friends who have cheap studios/singles in any of those locations?

I thank all honest replies in advance.

You'll probably be able to find a decent studio for under $1,000 (I live in Burbank for $850), but not a 1 BR. The Valley (Studio City, Burbank) would definitely be more in your price range, but I have seen studios in Hollywood, Los Feliz, Silver Lake advertised for less than $1k. You probably won't find much in West Hollywood for that price though.

Here are a few random listings on Craigslist below $1k that look pretty reasonable, and are in OK to good neighborhoods. I restricted the search to Silver Lake/Hollywood/WeHo because I don't know the neighborhoods in Glendale/Burbank/Studio City very well. I ignored listings that lacked either pictures or an address. Caveat: some of these might lack kitchens.

Yes, it is doable, but don't expect much.

I got a 1 bedroom with parking space, water and trash paid for $850 in Encino. Completely safe neighbourhood. You can take my apartment as i'll be leaving next year.

I've actually been doing the exact same search as you. I've been wondering the same thing. My general feeling is that a studio is reasonable between $800-1000, the lower end seems a bit sketchy. I'd be skeptical of a 1 bedroom under $1000. I'm looking for a two bedroom though but in the same areas. Good luck on your search!
