Relocating to LA... looking for a house in or around Santa Monica.
Relocating to LA... looking for a house in or around Santa Monica.
I'm currently in Los Angeles looking for a house around Santa Monica. I am caucasian and my girlfriend (currently) is part Asian. Our price range is in the $1.5 to $2M range, but would prefer to find a bargain. We would prefer a nice, safe neighborhood amongst like types (professional/open-minded/racially diverse/down-to-earth), but we're very diverse, and open to considering other neighborhoods in the area that are within commuting distance to Los Angeles. Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated.

You should have no problem finding a nice place in Santa Monica with your price range. Try looking around Montana Avenue. They have some really nice condos and town homes around there as well as houses.

It's Los Angeles. Your ethnic backgrounds are not a factor whatsoever.

money is the only thing that matters in LA. scope out what you want on the net & call an agent. they'll be more than happy to help you. perhaps see what group you want to work with (if you are indeed a doctor) & maybe they can hook you up in their network of friends for a good agent & recommend a neighborhood.

Santa Monica is the way to go if you can afford it, and don't mind a lot of people.
I second the Montana idea, if you're looking to be close to bars, cafes, and such, but finding a place that far north in SM, in your budget might be tough if you have high expectations. Santa Monica is not the first place to check for bargain, but they're always around. I see houses selling in that range in the 20th street area, bellow Pico (which blows my mind....).
Most important, in my opinion, is to find somewhere close to where work.
