Default Apple Picking - Tehachapi or elsewhere?

We take our two little ones apple picking every year - we recently moved to the Valencia area and were hoping to get some good advice on the best spots for apple picking.

Ideally, we're looking for an orchard setting, fresh-pressed cider, u-pick apples, bakery, etc.

In past years we have gone to Oak Glen / Yucaipa, but it's an absolute zoo on the weekends. We're also done the Julian thing, but it is quite a drive, especially from up here.

So I did some research on Tehachapi - it looks like they have what we're looking for, but on our last visit, the "orchards" were a let down - very small off the side of the road.

We must be looking at the wrong stuff or in the wrong place. Where is the best place to go apple picking in the greater LA area? Or is this a hopeless pursuit!?

tylersminerals is on a distinguished road
Hi,
There area couple orchards in Newhall (i think Agua Dulce as well) were you can go and pick apples, cherries and pumpkins during harvest. There is also a Christmas Tree farm where youcan cut down your own tree too. Let me double check with mu hubby how far down Bouquet Canyon, it's been awhile, and I will post that info. You can also check with the Santa Clarita city website. Also if you go down Sierra Highway around Vasques rd (going towards Aqua Dulce before Halway House Cafe) there is a nice little road side stand for fresh produce.

Hope this helps

Hi, thanks - I saw this - it's what led me to the "roadside orchard." There's unfortunately not a lot of context here, which is what I was hoping for. The latest reviews on the internet are circa 2003.

If you have any personal experiences apple picking in Tehachapi, would love to hear. Thanks again.
