Pastor says big quake is coming
I went to church this morning in the OC.According to the pastor there a huge quake is probably coming to the United States. He says that it is in the biblical scriptures and Jesus predicted a large series of quakes in the New Testament. He had a chart that showed severe earthquakes have increased in the last 100 years such as 7-9 on the scale.I wish I could have taped this guy it was quite interesting.Has anyone else ever heard of this.I have had a feeling we are due for a big quake soon but it made me think. The religious twist on it was interesting but just basic science tells us that LA is going to get a good quake soon.I hope everyone has insurance.

No one knows
You hear predictions of the "big one" from time to time. According to average time intervals, the San Andreas earthquake fault is "overdue" for its magnitude 8.0 big one. (Around every 150 years?) In the Pacific Northwest, the Cascadia fault historically jolts a Richter 9.0 or so aprox every 300 years. It, too, is overdue. But, who knows? All any of us can do is be aware that earthquakes could happen at any moment.
Anyone who witnessed Krakatoa surely must have thought the world was ending in 1883, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krakatoa.

I went to church this morning in the O.C. too. Yes, my pastor has also given sermons saying the same thing about how earthquakes are increasing all over the world, and it's only a matter of time before a catastrophic one hits, not just here in California, but all over the world, unlike any before it. The only thing we can do is be prepared at any time.

Insurance? For what? For our property or for ourselves? I have Jesus in me, would that be enough?

Check this daily for the size of earthquakes in California in the last hour, day and week. From my observations over time, it looks like Palm Springs is a goner!

I think your pastor was probably discussing events from the Book of Revelation.

I was a pastor for 14 years. You can find writings from many end-time "experts" that predict things that are vague enough to seem plausible, but not really Biblical Prophecy. It may be well intentioned but boils down to a kind of loose interpretation and sensationalism.

End of time since beginning of time
It seems I've heard that Christians of every generation since Jesus have found reasons to believe that Revelation's events were upon them and that the "end times" were near. Truth?
